As well as science, I always loved art but unfortunately that is a very competitive field with few job opportunities in fine art unless you’re really at the top of your game! So I’ve kept that as a hobby. I also love writing and realistically would have chosen writing over art had science not been on the scene! The good thing about science as a career though is I still get to incorporate both of those interests into my work, believe it or not. I’ve written a couple of science related pieces and even recently encountered a link between science and art when the resident artist here at Trinity asked our group to help her with a calculation she will make use of in one of her pieces! I think it is important to try to keep your outside hobbies as many people have interests in several different things and that’s great!
