• Question: What are saturns rings made of?

      Hi smileyluke8,
      Saturn.’s rings are made from rocky material. Some pieces are tiny grains of dust while others are the size of trucks. There are some theories that the rings may be the left overs of a moon that got blown to pieces in a crash with another large object.

      They are made of objects in orbit, from the size of a bit of dust to really large rocks.

      It’s a good example of how something as boring as rocks and dust can be made to look beautiful 🙂
