I have been a science researcher for nearly four years. Yes, it is the job I wanted for as long as I can remember, but it is not the job I always had. I worked in a box factory for many years until I returned to education as a mature student and did a degree in astrophysics. It is the best decision I have ever made. I also enjoy baking so if I was not a scientist I would probably be a baker, but that would be nowhere near as exciting for me as a job. Science is the coolest area to work in!

I feel like I have been a scientist all my life but I only started being paid to do science six years ago.

I wanted to be an artist when I was younger but I’m glad I changed my mind to be a scientist instead.

About 7 years since my first academic paper. I recently filled out a VISA form for the US.

      Occupation: Physicist

This never feels like a job, so I always feel funny filling out these forms. Great to get money to do what we do.

I have been in research for 3 years as a scientist, before that I worked as an engineer in both development and research. I really love what I do now and so long as I can keep doing it, I will.
