Dreaming and sleeping, from an evolution point of view, are a bit of a mystery.

If animals sleep, then they are vulnerable, so it is dangerous. This means that animals that do not sleep should be favoured, but mammals all seem to nap.

The brain uses sleep to clear itself of toxins and process information.

We don’t know a lot about dreams at all, or nightmares for that matter. But we do know that sleep is very important. Everyone should make sure to get eight hours sleep each night.
