      Because people are insecure. And sometimes it makes them feel a little better about themselves to cast judgement on other people. Haters gonna hate.

    Some people have to judge, for example judges have to make decisions on whether someone has broken the law and how they should be punished. It appears to be a cornerstone of society living.

    Scientists also need to judge new work. We need to judge results and not just swallow them blindly.
