      Astrology is not science based. Astronomical facts, I think the coolest is that about 95% of the universe is unknown. It is made of Dark Matter and Dark Energy. We have no idea what 95% of the universe actually is.

      There are no solid facts in astrology! Astrology is the ancient belief that your “star sign” has some relation to the planets and the stars. I.e. I am apparently a Capricorn so I am meant to be shy but thoughtful….like all the millions of other Capricorns out there with the exact same personality as me :p

      There are plenty of amazing astronomical facts however. I really like Stephen’s one 🙂 Another random cool one to think about is the fact that Saturn is the only planet in our Solar system that would technically float on water, with a lower density (mass per unit volume) than water!

      I agree with Stephen. Dark matter and energy are very exciting.

      Dark matter in particular as we should detect it in the next decade since there are lots of experiments at the moment.

      We may actually be able to produce dark matter in the laboratory, using say the facilities at CERN. Ireland, unfortunately, is not a member of CERN despite Ireland’s only Nobel prize winner getting the prize for work done on splitting atoms, essentially an earlier version of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.

      6 Magic Numbers! I think the most interesting fact (of any subject) is the particular values for our universal constants such as the ratio of the EM force to gravity and the cosmological constant. There are 6 such numbers and they serve as a sort of recipe for our Universe. The amazing fact is that if any of these were just a little different then our Universe would not exist the way it does. Life certainly would not be possible. In my opinion there are only two possibilities as to how these numbers are so finely tuned:
      1) There is a grand designer for our Universe, or in other words a God.
      2) There are an infinite number of universes with each one having different combinations of the values. We therefore find ourselves in a perfect universe as this is the only one we could find ourselves in.
      Personally I think the first answer is the correct one.
